Maud P. Mitchell was born about 1883 in Oregon. She married Chas. R. Mitchell and by 1920 they were living in Chehalis, WA. Charles was an assistant cashier at the bank. Mary Jane "Jennie" Smith is the eldest daughter of Rowland & Margaret Smith born in 1860. She was 19 years old when the family left Locke Haven, PA on their cross country journey arriving in Portland, OR in 1879. The party included her sisters, brother and parents. They eventually settled in Winlock, WA where Rowland homesteaded and joined the Winlock lumber mill. His homestead stayed in the family for generations.
